Two Pulaski, TN Police officers involved with the arrest of Doctor Terry Wynn on May 5 have been suspended without pay.
"Simply put, they did not weigh the actions of Doctor Wynn versus the immediate medical attention that was needed for her patient," Police Chief John Dickey told the Board of Mayor and Alderman.
The City of Pulaski called in an outside law firm to investigate the arrest. According to the police chief, racism was not an issue, but the officers should have used better judgement when determining the seriousness of the situation.
The police pulled over the doctor who was driving faster than the speed limit. She explained that she was on her way to the hospital to deliver a baby. She pulled off driving less than a mile to the hospital.
The police officer followed her to the hospital parking lot and arrested her. Fortunately, a relative of the expecting mom was able to call the police station and explain everything to the chief.
The chief agreed that the doctor should be able to deliver the baby and freed Dr. Terry Wynn before she was booked.

If there was an emergency wouldnt the doctor have tried to communicate w/ the police officer, instead of daring him to arrest her at the hospital. Evading arrest, felony. What school did she go to anyway, even my second grader knows how to speak to other people w/ respect! I pray that if my doctor is ever racing to save my life, he/she will not try to get in a chase w/ the police, but instead tell them what is going on and give them the respect they deserve. It just makes sense the officer would have trouble believing a professional doctor would act like a spoiled rotten child. In this case there was never any emergency proved. The only details given were that a woman had been induced to give labor the day before and didn't even give "Natural" child birth til at least 4 hours after the incident. SOME EMERGENCY! The police officers there need some support from the chief instead of letting ppl get away with treating them like crap!
This statement is simply ignorant:
"The only details given were that a woman had been induced to give labor the day before and didn't even give "Natural" child birth til at least 4 hours after the incident. SOME EMERGENCY"
Noone knows when a child is to come...it can take 30 minutes or 30 hours. If she was induced...the baby was coming...that IS an emergency!
It must be common practice for police to check the identification of doctors in this situation and let them continue on to the hospital. If not, why would the Chief of Police suspend the officer involved because of his poor judgement.
