Saggy Pants Billboards

A lawmaker from Brooklyn, NY has been inspired by the Larry Platt song, "Pants on the Ground." According to Platt who is an American idol and Youtube sensation with almost 6 million hits, says that he was inspired to write the song when he was walking one day and saw a guy with his pants on the ground and a baby bottle in his mouth.

State Senator Eric Adams has a message for the youth of America: Stop the Sag! The State Senator has installed six billboards in the borough. The ads show two men, with their underwear showing above their low sung jeans. “We are better than this!” the billboards read. “Raise your pants, raise your image.”

Saggy pants is a trend that has been copied from prison inmates. Inmates have saggy pants because they cannot wear belts in prison. Since belts can be used as weapons and they can also be used to hang oneself, prison inmates are not allowed to have them. This is why the prison inmate pants sag.

Freedom is more valuable than being locked up so it is confusing to many why something that originated in prison for those that have lost their freedom has been emulated by the teenagers and adults that are free.

Since there is no value in having a prison guard control an inmate's every waking hour, inmates should be emulating free men instead of it being the other way around.
